Coffee | One Roast at a Time

A slow, experience-led journey into home coffee roasting.
This is ongoing.

Coffee | One Roast at a Time is a practical home coffee roasting project focused on the Gene Café CBR-301. It brings together roast notes, structured observations, and simple guide pages built from repeated real-world roasts, with an emphasis on clarity, repeatability, and learning through experience rather than hype or fixed profiles.

One Roast at a Time

This is a personal coffee journal, written as I learn.

I roast coffee at home, slowly trying to understand what actually matters… and what doesn’t.

Most of this is just me writing things down so I don’t forget them, and in case it helps someone else who’s also figuring it out.

Over time, one thing has become clearer:

I’m not really adding flavour…
I’m setting the conditions…
and seeing what comes back.

What you’ll find here

  • Notes from individual roasts
  • What changed when one variable changed
  • What I thought would matter — and didn’t
  • What confused me, surprised me, or finally clicked

If you’re further along than me, you’ll probably disagree with some of this.
If you’re earlier, you might recognise the questions.
